Systemic Change

Helping achieve systemic change means identifying needs and what the barriers are to helping serve those needs. Where barriers exist, I work to break down those barriers by determining what can be changed or taught on a larger scale.

This year it became clear, through referrals, that there was a need for cyber safety information. Creating systemic change which includes wrap-around services to help students be safe online, fifth graders were presented a classroom guidance lesson on cyber safety. I also held a parent workshop on Cyber Safety to discuss having a plan as a family, and keeping communication open. As we educate students and parents on cyber safety, we create a change in the system whereby safe practices are employed and shared.
