Leadership
Demonstrating leadership has many faces for a school counselor. I take the lead in examining data to determine what needs exist, even collecting data as needed to best meet the current and relevant needs of the students, both collectively and individually.
A needs assessment, conducted towards the beginning of the year, helps me determine what needs to be addressed, and guides what I do as a school counselor. If there are already certain areas that I think may need attention, I focus on those in the Needs Assessment.
After conducting a Needs Assessment, I examine results to determine how my school counseling program can fit the needs. In this case, we determined that students would benefit from lessons on Friendship and Stress Management.
