Growth Mindset

Brain is like a muscle.jpg

Growth mindset is a concept conceptualized by Stanford University professor Carol Dweck, and proposes that intelligence and personality are things that can be developed. Having a growth mindset helps us look at challenges and mistakes as opportunities to learn more. If we have a growth mindset, we can actually achieve much more than if we have a fixed mindset, believing that the intelligence we have is static, and additional work or effort will not yield additional benefits.

Class Dojo has some great growth mindset lessons that help kids understand that effort and hard work DO matter!

Mindset Works has some ideas for parents on how to help children (and yourself!) develop a growth mindset.
